3-night and 4-day Trekking itinerary for exploring all habitats of the Bale Mountains National Park as you trek
across the home of the Ethiopian wolf, mountain nyala, gaunt mole-rat Bale monkey, and many more rare
animals
Day 01:Drive from hawassa to Bale Mountains or Dinsho headquarters, Arrival,
Start hiking around Dinsho headquarters where the park’s headquarters is located. Afterwards, our hike will take us through the park HQ where we’ll get a chance to spot and see some endemic/endangered mammals such as: Menilik’s Bush-buck, Mountain Nyala, Warthog, Reedbuck, Gray Duikers, and Baboons. Also, Ethiopian endemic birds such as Abyssinian flycatcher, Wattled Ibis, and Abyssinian catbird, which can all will be found in the juniper woodlands of Bale Mountains HQ. Then start driving from Dinsho to Sodota, which i about 18km long, drive from Dinsho through the spectacular scenery of Web Valley towards the Fincha Habera waterfall, where the Web and Wolla rivers meet. In this area, we have our first chances to spot the endemic Ethiopian Wolf, as well as raptors, rock hyrax, and endemic birds such as Blue Blue-winged Goose. This will surely leave you excited and in awe of the actual wilderness of the Bale Mountains. On arrival at the campsite, you will have a nice coffee/tea break.

Day 02: Trekking to Wassema
Trek to Wassema through a beautiful landscape with stunning views, pass through Mararo Valley where the Lammergeyer and Verraux Eagles keep nests. There will also be a chance to see the Ethiopian Wolf and other species of birds. 5-6 hrs hiking 18 km distance.
Overnight wassema Camping 3,900masl.
Day 03: Trek to Sanneti Plateau
Start the day by trekking through Wasama and Sanneti Plateau, the highest plateau in Africa, hiking to Sanneti Plateau Start the day by hiking through Wasama and then continue down into the Worgona Valley. Falcons, raptors, and possibly the Ethiopian wolf will be visible. Pass through the most beautiful Afro-alpine moorland, beautiful wild alpine scenery, and lakes on the plateau. Riding will take 7-8 hrs. Overnight Sanneti Campsite. 4100amsl.
Day 04: morning after breakfast, we meet our car at the campsites.
Start the day by driving through the Sanneti Plateau, the highest plateau in Africa. Falcons, raptors, ducks, goose, and possibly the Ethiopian wolf will be visible including the giant mole rat. Pass through the most beautiful Afro-alpine moorland, beautiful wild alpine scenery, and lakes on the plateau. Then start hiking to the second highest mountain in Ethiopia which is Tullu Dimtu 4,377m, after exploring the plateau drive back to Robe, trip ends, and drive back to Addis Ababa
